Training Curriculum for Estimating

The CUBE training program for the Estimating & Engineering module is divided into three parts, each focusing on specific aspects of the application.

Understanding the Significance of the Library Estimate

Purpose and functionality of the Library Estimate

The Library Estimate serves as a centralized repository of predefined components, materials, and labor resources for the estimation process. It allows users to select components, access material specifications, assign labor resources, create templates, and customize entries. The library enhances efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in estimation workflows, improving project planning and budgeting.

Deciphering the Estimate Module

Working with the Estimate List Page

The associate video in this section provides information about current estimates, including their unique IDs, project associations, categories, and vertical markets. It explains how to differentiate between multiple estimate versions, control access to library estimates, use the commissioning feature, and perform actions such as editing, deleting, and duplicating estimates. The video also covers refreshing data, exporting to Excel, customizing grid views, and adding new estimates.

How to Create a New Estimate

This video provides a step-by-step guide on creating a new estimate in CUBE. Learn how to navigate the interface, set up project parameters, input quantities and costs, and utilize advanced features such as data import/export, templates, adjustments, and reporting. Gain the skills to produce accurate estimates for effective project planning and execution. Basic familiarity with CUBE is assumed.

How to Create a Duplicate of an Existing Estimate

Learn how to duplicate estimates in CUBE with this concise training video. Discover the benefits, navigate the interface, and follow a step-by-step process to duplicate estimates effectively. Explore advanced features like quantity modification, cost updates, and template structures to enhance your workflow. Gain the skills to save time, maintain consistency, and adapt existing estimates for new projects in CUBE. Basic understanding of CUBE's interface is assumed.

Exploring the navigation and structure within an estimate.

The training video explores the navigation and structure within an estimate. Participants learn how to efficiently navigate through sections, explore subsections, and access detailed information. Understanding the estimate's structure enables effective management, accurate cost assessment, and resource planning within the estimate.

Working with the the build your project page

The video demonstrates how to use the "Build Your Project" feature to add, edit, and configure components for estimates and engineering projects. It covers navigating the project tree, activating/deactivating systems, editing areas, and using advanced tools like copy/paste, IO configuration, and sequence definitions.

Working with the the build your project page, “Add Parts & Labor”

In this training video highlight, we focus on the "Add Part" and "Add Labor" tabs, essential for managing the bill of materials of a selected system. These tabs provide a dedicated space for viewing, adding, and editing parts and labor, ensuring accurate project material documentation. The video also covers various features like system identification, customization, categorization by object and item types, cost calculations, editing, and importing from spreadsheets, making system management more efficient.

Working with the the build your project page, “ I/O Configuration”

The I/O Configuration page is essential for assigning point numbers to systems, ensuring accurate documentation of inputs and outputs. Detailed wiring schematics in control drawings offer clarity, accuracy, and ease of troubleshooting. The page is divided into input and output sections, enabling bulk actions. Users can edit attributes like prefixes, part numbers, and point types for multiple items. Point numbering can be done manually or using a drag-and-drop feature. Key fields for wiring details, such as jumpers, cable types, and instructions, are available. "No wiring" designates items without wiring details. Users can easily set up wiring details by selecting from options. This meticulous I/O configuration forms the basis for precise engineering documentation.

Working with the the build your project page, “Scope Of Work”

In the Scope of Work section, you can define tasks and responsibilities for the selected system, customizing the scope to align with project objectives. You can input this information manually and save it for generating a scope of work letter. This section automates the letter generation process using saved component data, saving time and ensuring accuracy. You can adjust the scope as needed when adding or deleting items. To generate the scope, choose between continuous or inline formats and format the document using the toolbar. The saved information simplifies quote letter generation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Working with the the build your project page, “ Sequence of Operation”

In the "Sequence of Operation" section, you can craft a specialized SOP (Sequence of Operation) tailored to the chosen system, allowing you to meticulously outline the step-by-step process for its operation. This customization empowers you to furnish explicit instructions and directives, ensuring the system's seamless functioning and harmonious integration into your project. Accessible within each system, the SOP can be conveniently stored and linked for future reference by your team when creating control drawings in Vision or AutoCAD, streamlining the project management process.
